Darling Fireball

Newsfire logo

For the past week, I’ve been reading feeds using Newsfire, the Mac RSS reader ‘with style’ created by David Watanabe (of Acquisition P2P fame and the currently-in-beta Xtorrent). In the past, I had used Ranchero’s NetNewsWire and the website Kinja to aggregate feeds, but they lack the simplicity I wanted. I was able to import an OPML file of my favorites and just get going. I’ve found some indexing sites don’t translate well to feed-reading, but it beats having to visit most of the sites I track every day. My only complaint is with sites which hide the link to their feed, split things out into innumerable sub-feeds or exclude images and have only terse excerpts.
