Fallen Star
On 2006-08-23, I sent $29 via Pay Pal to John Gruber of DaringFireball.net for a Classic Daring Fireball T-shirt.
A month later on 2006-09-20, I sent an email to him asking about the status of that order, and he replied he was waiting on a new order and it would be shipping soon.
Another month later (two months after payment was sent) on 2006-10-24, I sent yet another email asking again about the status of the undelivered shirt, to which he has not yet replied.
Another message was sent this morning, also to no avail.
I am a big fan of John Gruber’s writing on technology and Mac advocacy, but more than two months without the promised delivery or even an apology just crosses the line for me. As of right now, I don’t recommend sending money for a t-shirt to John Gruber of DaringFireball.net.
UPDATE: shortly after I wrote this post, I received yet another email promising my order was on its way. All told, it has been three months and still no delivery.
UPDATE 2: The shirt finally arrived on 2006-12-23, a full four months after I sent the money — still with no explanation. I’ll let you decide whether or not you think that’s a reasonable turnaround time for a Daring Fireball t-shirt.
